Kids Take the Stage

Kids Take The Stage is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to empower young people through visual, auditory, and physical performing arts. Our classes, camps, and productions strive to give shape to the whole student and engender a sense of higher purpose from an artistic and humanitarian perspective. The base structure of our programs, seek to teach students the inter-connectedness inherent in the theater arts by employing many modes of learning. It is our hopes that by using this form of integrated studies, students begin to recognize their own sense of self and inter-connectedness within the world at large.

All of our Kids Take The Stage programs seek to nurture the mind, body, and soul and in turn promote confidence, self-awareness, cooperative learning, discipline, enhance self-esteem, and problem solving skills.

About the Program

Because we view drama as a powerful vehicle for developing self-expression, self-awareness, and team- work, the goal of all Kids Take the Stage courses is to empower the imaginations and enrich the lives of participants. We seek to expose as many children as possible to the endless benefits of drama, and since our inception Kids Take the Stage has served well over 2000 students. Kids of all levels are welcome!

The talent and dedication of our young actors is showcased throughout the East Bay through numerous full-scale productions, as well as smaller performances and script readings. Time and time again, parents, students, and audience members alike are awed by the impressive results of the Kids Take the Stage methodology.

"My daughter was not always the most outgoing child. Two years ago she decided to take Trevor's drama class through the Recreation Department.... It was a lot of work to memorize her lines, but we were very proud that she accomplished the task very well. The following summer she was selected to play the part of Wendy in Peter Pan. [The performances] have taught her to present herself well in front of an audience and have given her a lot of confidence. Trevor encouraged her all the way! Our Methods

Our curriculum includes: creative movement, structured improvisation, language development, scripted dialogue and monologue, stage makeup and application, family night presentations, and end-of-the-year productions. Kids Take the Stage prides itself on carefully planned lessons, which keep each session new and exciting for the students.
