Kids Take The Stage Main Stage is our professional theater company for kids, ages 8-17.

Every role is cast by audition only and the actors rehearse for up to six months on a production, which culminates in a two-weekend run of 8-12 performances.

All kids wishing to audition for a main stage production must have at least two years experience acting in our Educational Junior Theater productions or equivalent stage work.

All Main Stage productions require a nominal registration fee for all actors that are cast in our shows. This fee helps mitigate the rising cost of professional theater, including, but, not limited to professional teaching artists, performance royalties, cutting edge set and lighting design, stage crews, and theater rental.  Please note: If an actor is unable to pay the required registration fee, there are several options made available.  Please see our fees policy for more information.

KTTS’ Main Stage is a theater immersion experience of the highest caliber and we strive to provide the very best in high quality children’s theater in the East Bay.  If you would like to reserve an audition spot for our upcoming production, please click on our auditions link.

Fees Policy

KTTS Main Stage is six months of theater immersion. Every actor cast in our productions work with theater bay area professionals of the highest caliber; the training and experience gained is second to none. As such, we require all of our actors, cast in a role to pay a registration fee of $325.

If an actor is unable to pay this fee, this fee can be reduced to $175.  If a fee is mitigated, we ask that the parent or the guardian of the actor cast choose one of the following options.

  • Sell 30 adult tickets for our show in addition to the 10 that is asked of each actor (40 total)
  • Volunteer at least 10 hours helping with back stage duties i.e costume sewing, set painting and building, box office, publicity, etc…

A scholarship program is in place for families in special circumstances or need.

Policies and Age Requirements

Auditionees must be of the advertised age by audition weekend for any production. Main Stage reserves the right to request proof of age at any time.

When age requirements for productions overlap or special auditions are held, it is the staffs' responsibility to assess and place an auditionee in the production that will best serve the auditionee.

WITHDRAWING FROM A PRODUCTION AND REFUNDS

If you withdraw from a production before the cast list is posted, you are entitled to a full refund. If you withdraw from a production for any reason after the cast list is posted, no refund is given.

Call (866) 953-7262 to withdraw from a production.

If you withdraw, you will not be allowed to audition for the next production you are eligible for unless you are excused by the Executive or Artistic Directors for extenuating circumstances. It is your responsibility to inform Main Stage of your circumstance within one-week of withdrawing from a production in order to be cleared for the next audition.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Each performer is required to attend all of his/her scheduled rehearsals. All conflicts must be communicated to the Main Stage staff using the Production Registration Form. Even if conflicts are reported in advance, be aware that missing rehearsal may prevent you from being staged into scenes and musical numbers.

Rehearsal schedules are subject to change to make the most productive use of time.

Some cast members may be asked to participate in all performances when roles are not double-cast or technical support is needed.

" Technical Production Weeks" are the last two weeks prior to performances and attendance is MANDATORY, no exceptions

(also see School Matinees and Special Shows Policy below). Rehearsals will run long and late into the evening during the immediate week prior to showtime, so please be prepared for this.

SCHOOL MATINEES AND SPECIAL SHOWS

Main Stage performs its productions for schools and community agencies during the day on Thurs. and/or Fri. during production week. These performances are not mandatory, however, it is important to notify your Show Coordinators within the first two weeks of rehearsal if you cannot participate.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Main Stage maintains a Scholarship Program to support those in need of tuition assistance.

Main Stage provides six full scholarships per season -- a total of more than $3,600 per year in assistance.

The scholarship includes payment of the full registration fee. Qualifying families must verify a yearly income of less than $40,000 per year for the previous two years. Copies of tax returns will be requested for verification.

Main Stage requests that only applicants with financial challenges or special circumstances apply. The intent of this program is to give performing opportunities to youth who may not otherwise be able to afford a program such as what Main Stage provides. In order to ensure that the qualifications are met, scholarship registrations must take place in person at the KTTS office. Contact us for more information: support@kidstakethestage.com, (866) 953-7262.
